Meet Samantha Scott, Business Operations
Meet Sam, Idea Drop's hire #1. Our team simply couldn't imagine our lives without her. She is responsible for so many things and we can't even imagine how she manages all of her tasks at once.
Tell us more about yourself and what do you do here at Idea Drop.
I’m Sam and basically I get stuff done. I work in operations and I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wear many hats but I can’t complain as it’s great. I am organised and a keen multi tasker, hence the many hats! My main focuses at the moment are operational based from finance and legal to office admin and HR but I also work within customer success, working closely with our clients to ensure they are happy and get the answers they’re looking for.
Why did you join Idea Drop?
Idea Drop has introduced me to so many opportunities that I’d never thought I’d get involved with and now I am managing a lot of responsibilities where I can show my strengths but also continue to learn. The best part of it all, no two days are the same!
What was the best advice you ever got from someone?
My dad always says, “For good things to happen, be honest and believe in yourself – you can achieve anything but only if you truly believe you can”.
Tell us about your team and what do you enjoy the most about it?
Being Idea Drops first hire, aside from our two co-founders (Charlie & Owen) definitely makes me feel proud when I tell people how far we’ve come in such a short space of time. We’re now a growing team of 16 where our values are respected. We work well together as a team and dedicate time to help one another, even out of our specific job role. Last but not least, you can’t forget Owen’s dog Lola, she’s the cutest member of our team.
How do you recharge?
After graduating and before joining Idea Drop, I spent a couple of years freelancing where I had flexible hours, allowing me to travel – which is a huge passion of mine, therefore I always said to myself if I work a full-time busy job (and yes, my work life is very busy here) then I would adventure to a new place at least once a month, so that’s what I do when I am not working – travel.
How and where do you come up with your best ideas?
Although my commute is only 20 minutes, I still manage to daydream and I think that has to be where I come up with my best ideas, especially as no one talks on the tube in London so there’s certainly no distractions there.
What is your most anticipated feature that is coming up on Idea Drop?
Alongside our product team working extremely hard to improve Idea Drop, we also run challenges internally so we all get the chance to input our ideas on how we can refine the product too! As I thrive on customer success, especially when knowing we were part of that success, I am most excited for the workflow process to be updated. Organisations can soon manage ideas and action them WAY quicker than ever before. I am very excited for this feature to be implemented!
