Idea Drop facilitated a knowledge sharing session between AAA Club Alliance, an affiliate club of the American Automobile Association, and Microgaming, a global supplier of online gaming software. AAA Club Alliance shared its learnings, experiences and results from their implementation of Idea Drop’s idea management software.
The key outcomes of the platform have been to enhance how AAA Club Alliance drives strategic value from their innovation processes and their people, and to build an innovation culture where everyone is confident and empowered to contribute their ideas to help define the future of the club.

Promoting a Challenge
Generating buzz and awareness, and educating your team about your innovation programme helps to get them excited and eager to actively participate.
AAA Club Alliance used multiple channels to inspire people to respond to the Challenge, including an article to inform everyone of its purpose. A cross-channel approach (including intranet, email, print, in-person meetings and social media) helps to capture and retain your team’s attention on the Challenge regardless of where they’re spending their time. This type of strategic communication is essential for your innovation programme to succeed.
Using a diverse number of media (copy, visuals, videos, animations) to promote your Challenges is key to keeping everyone engaged and interested in the programme.
AAA Club Alliance broadcasted a video of their chief marketing officer along with the Challenge. This type of top-level support is crucial as it inspires others to invest and engage in the innovation programme.
The presence of key leaders across Challenges is something that Idea Drop always promotes with clients as these Challenges tend to receive 30% more ideas compared to other Challenges.

Rewarding your Employees
A core component of AAA Club Alliance’s Challenge release was also to reward associates for contributing their ideas. They elected to incentivise their people with monetary rewards in the form of GEM points.

Results from AAA Club Alliance’s Challenge on Idea Drop
AAA Club Alliance received a total of 129 ideas on the Challenge from 118 different associates.
This is a prime example of the important role that strategic communication and rewards play in inspiring great levels of engagement among your staff in your innovation programme.
Top-scoring ideas were calculated based on “ratings”, “comments” and “likes”.
AAA Club Alliance combined the top-rated ideas with the results from an analysis of the most popular idea categories (including gift cards, special treatment, membership discounts and discounts on AAA services) to form the chosen idea.
Realising innovation impact requires the development and execution of the one(s) with the most promising strategic value. Setting KPIs (key performance indicators) for your innovation programme is key to managing its performance and measuring its impact.
