We know that one of the reasons many of you love Idea Drop is because of its sleek, lightweight and intuitive interface. These features are also why it’s so easy to use our software and why it doesn’t require any training or special onboarding.
Our platform design has served you and us well over the years, but as we and our customer base grows and we get more feedback and data on how you use our platform every day, we’re committed to constantly making improvements and adapting to your evolving needs.
With that in mind, we’re delighted to present to you the refreshed look of our Idea Drop platform.
The new-look platform has already landed on all our users’ desktops and mobiles. We’re sure that it will drive even higher engagement and deliver even better results for your innovation programme, especially if you’re looking for strong web accessibility.
All the changes we’ve made have the sole purpose of driving innovation with impact across your organisation by making your experience even more intuitive and lightweight and allowing you to explore and discover the most important ideas, challenges and bulletins even faster.
What has changed at Idea Drop?
1. More space and attention to ideas on your home feed
Strong web accessibility means improved user experience and satisfaction across different devices, and for older users as well as users with disabilities. You’ll notice that the overall look and feel of your home feed is lightweight and spacious. Lighter colours mean more attention and space for the content that matters the most – ideas, challenges and bulletins.
2. An improved idea-submitting process to drive up ideation
The way you post ideas, challenges and bulletins on Idea Drop has improved. Start typing directly into the box on the top of your news feed. Add a title, a description and choose who you would like to share your submission with. Categorise it, attach it to a challenge if you wish, add images and drop it directly on the news feed.
3. More attention to collaboration on idea cards
We’ve given more attention to how you see information on the expanded idea card view. Key information about the idea is now separate from the interactions below and you can also filter interactions by type. Discover the latest and most important comments and ratings instantly and encourage collaboration between your colleagues.
4. Easier ways to navigate the platform
We’ve made your menu collapsable for smaller-resolution devices such as iPads or 14″ laptops, to create even more space for all the great content on your feed. Easily expand the menu only when you need it.
5. Faster ways to find the most impactful ideas that matter to you
The filters menu is now separate from the main menu, giving you even more ways to cut and slice through the data and find the ideas that matter to you in seconds. Filter content on your feed by category, type or date. Then sort the filtered content on the feed by newness or popularity.
6. Access to a library of your and your colleagues’ latest activities in seconds
We’ve moved your profile and account information to the top-right corner and placed your notifications next to this. Click on the bell icon and access all your real-time notifications in one place.
You can find all of the usual information about your innovation score, ideas and other interactions behind your profile picture. Click on the drop-down arrow below your image to access your profile, go straight to our help-centre articles or sign out. On your revamped profile page you also can:
- Find out which groups you’re a member of
- Browse through the latest activities, ideas and challenges as well as the list of people you follow on Idea Drop;
- See how many ideas you’ve submitted, how many ratings you’ve made, your all-time innovation score and more (all on the right-hand side of your profile page);
- View the status of every idea you’ve submitted. This is a great way of keeping updated on how your ideas are progressing through the innovation pipeline towards implementation.
7. A myriad of knowledge in just a few taps
You’ll find the search field on top of your news feed. Start typing and view results immediately, ranked in order of relevance. These results can include titles or descriptions of ideas, challenges or bulletins, comments, colleague names and the contents of PDF or DOC attachments. Hit the return key and from here, you can apply a range of sub-filters including ‘by type’, ‘by author’ and ‘by time’.
8. An improved Innovation Leaderboard
Reveal even more innovation leaders in your company by clicking ‘Load More’ on the Innovation Leaderboard widget. Follow them to see their latest ideas higher on your news feed and to be notified whenever they share a new idea.
We couldn’t have done it without you and your feedback
We’ve been working on our new interface for the last couple of months and we’d like to thank all of our users who submitted their feedback about our previous design. This feedback helped us to shape the latest version of Idea Drop, and we hope you like it!
Of course, the process doesn’t end here. We’d love to hear what you think as we’re committed to keep improving our platform and we can only do that with your support. So please keep sharing your feedback and insights with us!
