Idea Templates
How many times have you received an idea that sounded good but that missed some key information to enable you to make an informed decision? That necessitates going back and forth with the idea’s author to obtain everything you need for a proper review.
With that in mind (and in response to many client requests), we’ve created a new feature in Idea Drop called “Idea Templates” – a fully customisable way to crowdsource ideas and the relevant information about those ideas.
From now on, admins on Idea Drop can pose a list of questions (Idea Templates) about an idea, rather than simply asking for a title and a description. This gives you full control over how you want to receive new ideas and what information is important for reviewing it properly without going back and forth with idea authors.
Admin Settings Panel Revamp
With our latest settings panel update, we’ve made the Idea Drop platform even easier to use, navigate and customise for your organisation’s needs.
General Settings
Make fast updates to your organisation’s information, as well as other content settings such as idea character count and idea rating guidance in your general settings tab.

Invite & Manage Users
Invite new users to join Idea Drop with ease, see the active ones as well as resend invitations to users who have not joined Idea Drop yet.
Groups & Categories
Create, edit and delete groups straight from your Groups & Categories tab. You can also see categories in each group as well as people who are part of those groups.
Pipeline
See all your pipeline statuses and create new ones in your Pipeline tab. You can change the order of them, edit names, or delete the ones that are no longer needed.
Public Innovation Challenges
Crowdsourcing ideas with Public Challenges is key to unlocking fresh insights and perspectives from those who would otherwise be excluded from the innovation process.
You can now open a Challenge on Idea Drop to submissions from outside your organisation. Admin users can generate a public-facing challenge page, with an idea capture form that pulls external ideas into your Idea Drop platform. The Public Challenges can be shared on any of your communication channels to ensure that external stakeholders with the right skills and expertise can freely and easily contribute their innovative ideas.
Slack & MS Teams Integrations
Whether you need to solve a problem or find new ways of reaching your strategic goals, running an Innovation Challenge is a compelling way of generating innovative and strategically aligned ideas within your organisation.
Our new integration with Slack and Microsoft Teams enables you to broadcast your Innovation Challenges through multiple channels to let your employees know you’d like their input, even when they’re not logged onto Idea Drop. These integrations automatically generate messages about your new Challenge and allow every Idea Drop user to respond super fast from the app they’ve already got open.
Simply broadcast your Challenge to Slack or Microsoft Teams and watch all the great ideas rolling in.
Private Notes
Reviewing and discussing ideas with your colleagues is an essential part of every innovation workflow. Oftentimes you need to consult with your team before providing public feedback to the idea’s author or deciding who’s best placed to take an idea forward.
From now on, there’s no need to take your conversations offline, write emails, send messages or get together on Zoom to discuss crowdsourced ideas. You can now leave a “Note” on the Idea Drop platform that is visible only to other admins and moderators. Keeping your communication in one place, right here on the Idea Drop platform, means that ideas progress faster and that there is more transparency on the discussions taking place related to each idea.
Assign a User
Responsibility for moving an idea forward shifts as it moves through the different stages of implementation. The person who came up with the idea will not necessarily be the one who’s going to progress it from start to finish.
That’s why we added a new ‘Assign User’ feature so that you can assign an idea to any user in just a few clicks. The feature ensures that all your stakeholders are aligned and informed about who is responsible for progressing ideas.
Advanced Pipeline Search and Filters
As your innovation programme grows, it can be challenging and time consuming to manage ideas at scale. We’ve made it easier than ever to find specific ideas in seconds with our Advanced Pipeline Search and Filters.
Keyword Search in Pipeline
Search by keywords in your pipeline to locate all the ideas related to the same topic.
Filters in Pipeline
- Author filter – Find out which stage in the pipeline you or your colleagues’ ideas are at.
- Assignee filter – Discover all the ideas that are assigned to you as well as ideas that still need to be assigned to users.
- Challenge filter – See how ideas both related and unrelated to Challenges are progressing through the pipeline.
